COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to introduce the concept of organizational resilience and to provide students with a practical approach to build on the foundation of their existing skills and knowledge to develop and enhance resilience capabilities for their organizations. Business continuity principles and practices are essential to building resilience in organizations. Developing effective resilience capabilities requires a collaborative approach between established management disciplines.

This course reflects on the UK guidance to organizational resilience BS 65000 and reflects the current global thinking at an international level.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this training course are to provide students with the ability to:

  • Provide an overview of organizational resilience
  • To engage in workshop discussions about organizational resilience
  • To offer examples of what works in practice, e.g. building resilience capabilities

COURSE DELIVERY
This BCI training course is delivered as a one-day course, classroom based, by the BCI’s global network of licensed Training Partners and Approved BCI Instructors.

All students will receive an official certificate of attendance directly from the BCI.

About the Presenter

Malcolm B. Reid, MSIA, MBA, FBCI, CBCP, CPP, CFE

Malcolm Reid is the Managing Director of Brison LLC, a risk management advisory firm based in Virginia, USA. He is a globally recognized leader in the fields of risk management and cyber resilience. He gained a wealth of experience as a practitioner and advisor to global clients that include a number of Multi-lateral development banks, Nation states, Multi-national energy firms and Chemical firms. Malcolm is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point (Bachelor of Science, Engineering Management). He has a Master of Business Administration from the Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK and a Master of Science (Cum Laude) in Information Assurance from Norwich University, USA. He is completing a Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Security Management and a graduate certificate in Project Management from Webster University, USA.

Malcolm is Board Certified in Security Management and holds the designation of Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with ASIS International. Within ASIS International, he is also a member of the Standards and Guidelines Commission, a Regional Vice President, and a member of the Crisis Management and Business Continuity Council. Malcolm is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, USA, and the Chairman of Chapter #182. He is a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) which is the highest professional certification awarded for expertise in the field of Business Continuity. He is also certified with DRI International as a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP).

Additionally, Malcolm credentials include the ISO 22301 Lead Implementer certification and he is also certified in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) with distinction by the British Computer Society. He has spoken at numerous international conferences, written professional articles, and was an adjunct Instructor for the graduate program in Risk and Security Management at Boston University and a course developer for Norwich University in the undergraduate Criminal Justice program
