NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) now have full access to a brand new, state-of-the-art, tactical training facility which will aid in upping training initiatives for the police force.

Anthony Ferguson, Police Commissioner, officially opened the new facility on Monday afternoon.

The control tactics room is located on the police training college compound on Thompson Boulevard.

The new building is attached to the recently opened fitness centre on the college compound.

“It is important that we have continual training and that officers are provided with the right training facilities so that they are able to practice in a good environment,” Gamal Newry, Reserves Inspector, RBPF said.

“In comparison to times past, we were training outside with hard services, but this will now improve the atmosphere of training and we look forward to using this room to its full capacity.”

The top brass of the RBPF who attended the official opening of the training facility, traded in their khaki uniform for a few hours and suited up in aerobic gear to participate in a brief fitness training exercise with new recruits.

“We want to excite the members of the RBPF, especially those on the front line, and I believe that if they see us come out and do this exercise with them; it will excite them. I truly wish that every member of the force will take advantage of this facility,” Commissioner Ferguson said.

The new facility was constructed by the maintenance team of the RBPF
